Dear readers

All are welcome to leave comments.

In Dayak Iban system of belief there is no Aki Andan but only the legendary Ini Andan. Aki Andan is deliberately used here merely to denote a male counterpart and not in any way to be construed as her spouse as there being none. Ini Andan occupies a very special social and spiritual station. She is also in possession of many special skills, which among others, the ability to foretell with accuracy what is to come in the near future and also often the saviour of the wounded and downtrodden. Not specifically endowed with such skills or abilities, hence her modern male counterpart has to use the 'teropong' to look into the distant future.

My Meeting with DPM in Hong Kong

A rare meeting that I had with DPM before Christmas was something quite memorable. It was rather a rainy afternoon. I had a simple lunch in Hong Kong when DPM came and seated next to my table.

DPM is acronym for Dimbab (dr), Peter (dr) and Menua (dr). I have known Dr Dimbab Ngidang for quite sometime, who is now a professor at a local university. That afternoon at Hong Kong Noodle House was my first meeting with Dr Peter Kedit, a former Curator of Sarawak Museum. Even though I have never met Dr Peter Kedit before, way back in 1986 I had read his book on Iban augury system, which I think was a learned research. Sometime in 1991 I met Dr Menua Saleh in Kuching. One of my cousins brought me to his house, a place I cannot recall by now. That was not too long after the 1991 State Election. Menua Saleh (as he then was) had just lost to Gabriel Adit in Ngemah constituency in the 1991 State Election. After a lapse of almost 17 years we met again, which Dr Menua Saleh (Robert)was not able to recall.

My meeting with the three learned men was a privilege. Mention was made by Dr Dimbab of my blog that has been very critical of the Second Deputy Chief Minister, Alfred Jabu, who is also doctor (honoris causa). I told them that I was the black sheep among Malaysians, who dare to criticize the Deputy Chief Minister.

Looking back at the criticism I had levelled against Tan Sri Alfred Jabu, I have not a slightest regret. I strongly believe he deserves such adverse remark. Occupying a position where he can do so much for the rural population, but he has failed miserably. I did pass by and drove along the Betong road on my way back to my village just before Christmas, which is in his Layar constituency, I did not notice anything spectacular. By any standard the stretch of good road from Betong to Saratok is just an ordinary achievement. I can remember pretty well that stretch of road, which now becomes the pride of Alfred Jabu as symbol of his achievement, was in a terrible state for very many years. Only now that stretch of road is good.

I wish I had a longer conversation with the three learned doctors but time was not with us that very afternoon in Hong Kong Noodle House.

To all readers, once again I like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas. To all Muslims all over Malaysia, I wish all of you "Selamat Menyambut Awal Muharam" today.

May the two celebrations bring peace and harmony to all Malaysians.

Rupa2nya meeting those learned persons in Hong Kong Noodle House..is it at Wisma Saberkas my friend??

You should also mention to DPM that Dayak Baru, Sarawak Headhunter & The Broken Shield blogs also dares to criticise Jabu..

Keep up more interesting postings especially on NCR land issues..

The meeting was at Hong Kong Noodle House, Padungan.

Yes, indeed Dayak Baru, Sarawak Headhunter and Broken Shield also have been critical of Tan Sri Jabu. However, since mention was made about my blog, I did not bring their attention to other blogs, which I believed they were pretty aware of the same. Mention could have been had about the other blogs but time was rather jealous of our conversation.

Mr. Teropong Dunya Aki Andan. Sir. My respect to you. A real man is someone who dare to be criticized, who dare to admit his fault. Criticised contructively can make you a better person, if not the best. Those who cannot accept being critizised are not human but animal. Self-centred individual. Bravo to you Sir. Keep it up. Don't tell me you want to stop your blog.

Merry Christmas to you and your love ones..

To be cont....

I had the privileged to work with Prof. Dimbab before. He is such a humble man.

As for Kedit, and Menua heard of them too from Dimbab.

Dimbab actually the only Dayak prof that I know - very well versed on the NCL issues. In fact a judge even referred to him - when he made the judgment for the Nor Nyawai v Borneo Pulp.
