Gaddafi was reported killed in hometown of Sirte. A dictator for more than four decades, Gaddafi was the latest most hated man in political history. Love that turned into hatred.
History always repeats itself. But almost all long-time serving political leaders never seem to learn from this stupid error. We have abundant examples. In the Philippines we had Ferdinand Marcos; in Indonesia we had General Suharto, in Thailand we had Thaksin, etc. In political parties we have leaders who have been refusing to step down as Presidents; and one thing in common: all were chased out disgracefully. Sarawak National Party (SNAP) was once in that situation; hence Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party was born and it now suffers a repeated history.
We have leaders who are neighbours to us here who are suffering from this 'hanging on syndrome' and while hanging on to power in their last years, they plunder the national wealth like pirates. All dissenting voices are suppressed and those who legitimately express their abhorrence are labeled anti-development. But what development are they talking about? The left-over of their loots is what they consider development that they throw around for the ordinary citizens to scramble upon.
But then it's an irony, as much as we do not want these robbers to further rob the national wealth, many are not prepared to let these goons go for fear the new people would be worse. So they prefer keeping these robbers to replacing them with new people who they think might be worse than these current robbers. One thing they forget, who actually had turned these people into robbers. They forget their own hands that keep giving them the mandate to be robbers when they should have thrown them into the fire of hell before they could become addicted robbers.
Back to the expected final outcome of dictator Muamar Gaddafi, I have on many occasions, hearing a fourth term wakil rakyat in my own constituency keeps saying, "now should be the best time that I start to become an Assemblyman". Do you hear that? What he's saying he should be there for many more terms to come notwithstanding his highest educational attainment didn't go beyond junior secondary and nothing in the course of his three terms as sitting MP and two terms as State Assemblyman he had gone beyond that level. Some years ago a friend was saying to me, "how do you expect a monkey to fly an aeroplane?" In the context he was speaking I immediately understood the innuendo.
Finally, will the people of Libya rejoice or mourn over the death of their once revered leader?
